Product Description

Steel gate valve model 502 is designed for flow isolation in industrial piping systems. The DN/PN range is intended for installations using European valve and connection standards.

The valve can be specified with a solid or flexible wedge, selected body and sealing materials, and flanged or butt-weld ends. The final configuration is determined by the operating conditions and project documentation.

Available configurations

  • Sizes: DN 40–1000 within the scope of EN 1984;
  • Pressure designations: PN 10, PN 16, PN 25, PN 40, PN 63 and PN 100;
  • End connections: flanged or butt-weld (BW);
  • Function: flow isolation.

Design features

  • Solid or flexible wedge, depending on the valve configuration;
  • Cast or forged steel construction where specified for the selected size and pressure designation;
  • Body, wedge, stem and sealing surfaces selected for the process conditions;
  • Rising or non-rising stem according to the relevant valve datasheet;
  • Manual, gearbox or powered actuation according to the required operating torque.

Process media

Water, steam, petroleum products and other industrial media. Suitability for gases, corrosive liquids, acids or alkalis depends on their composition, concentration and temperature, together with the materials and sealing arrangement of the specified valve.

Body material options

Material groupEN designationASTM designation
Cast carbon steelGP240GH (1.0619)A216 WCB
Low-temperature cast steelSpecified for the ordered designA352 LCB / LCC
Cast alloy steelG17CrMo5-5 (1.7357) / G17CrMo9-10 (1.7379)A217 WC6 / WC9
Cast stainless steel1.4308 / 1.4306A351 CF8 / CF3
Cast stainless steel1.4408 / 1.4409A351 CF8M / CF3M

Cast and forged materials are specified under their respective material standards. A listed EN and ASTM grade must not be treated as interchangeable without checking the requirements of the ordered valve. Other stainless steel grades, including 316Ti and 904L families, can be considered for a specified design.

Wedge, seat and stem materials

ComponentAvailable material approach
WedgeMaterial selected to match the body and service conditions; optional stainless steel or hardfaced sealing surfaces.
SeatsSpecified metallic sealing surfaces, with hardfacing where required by the application.
StemStainless steel grade selected for the ordered valve configuration.

The exact materials and sealing-surface arrangement are identified in the technical datasheet and order documentation.

Applicable standards

  • Valve design: EN 1984 (DIN EN 1984);
  • Face-to-face dimensions for flanged valves: EN 558 (DIN EN 558), selected series as stated in the datasheet;
  • Flanged connections: EN 1092-1, with the flange facing specified in the order, for example type B1;
  • Butt-weld ends: EN 12627, where applicable to the ordered connection;
  • Inspection and pressure testing: EN 12266-1; seat leakage acceptance criterion as specified for the ordered valve.

Selection information

Please specify the DN, PN, body and trim materials, operating medium, design temperature, end connections and actuation. The allowable operating pressure and temperature are established for the actual material and construction; the overall series limits do not apply to every valve configuration.
